ANERIS presented biodiversity innovations during the 2024 edition of MarTech

13 Jun 2024

The 11th annual International Workshop on Marine Technology, Martech 2024, was held in the period May 6-7 in Palma de Mallorca, Spain, and carried out by the Systems, Robotics and Vision research group (SRV) of the Universitat de les Illes Balears and the Development Center of Remote Acquisition and Information Processing Systems of the Polytechnic University of Catalonia.

This new edition of Martech focused on showcasing significant contributions in underwater robotics, highlighting innovations in artificial intelligence, communication systems and underwater sensors for studying coastal areas and different ocean species. Specifically, this year, the Balearic archipelago brings incredible context to marine scientific research due to not only its diverse flora and fauna, but also because of the various institutions that are situated on the islands, such as the Mediterranean Institute for Advanced Studies and the Balearic Islands Coastal Observing and Forecasting System

During the session on May 6, the ANERIS project was presented, showcasing the role of OBSEA in project activities through testing innovative imaging tools, such as CytoSub and UVP6, and advancing automated systems for marine biodiversity monitoring.
