On May 25–26, this year’s Catalonia Underwater Photography Championship kicked off, running until June 26. Organised by FECDAS, the event took place at the Estartit Nautical Club and brought together a large number of marine enthusiasts.
The competition theme this year tasks participants with taking photographs below the water’s surface that show the diversity of marine life. In addition to presenting excellent diving techniques, the participants are also expected to deliver high-quality photos of the underwater world that would accurately demonstrate their photographic specialty. The observations made will be uploaded and stored in the MINKA platform.
During the event, the ANERIS project was promoted as well, allowing participants to get more familiar with the work done by the project’s team and learn further about the challenges facing marine conservation today. This initiative would not be possible without the participation of the Catalan Federation of Underwater Activities (FECDAS), which has engaged in promoting and training underwater activities to marine enthusiasts several times.
