BioMARathons 2026 are almost here
This year's edition of the BioMARathon is kicking off on Saturday, the 2nd of May, inviting all citizen scientists of all ages to actively participate in discovering, photographing, and documenting marine and coastal biodiversity.
The guiding principle of the event this year is “Beaches with Life," underlining the key goal of the initiative - deepening knowledge about biodiversity along the coasts of Portugal and Catalonia, as well as promoting the importance of species identification and appreciation of nature.
As in other years, this time around observations will be shared once again through the MINKA citizen science observatory, with a location and date included. This practice has proven to increase species records and deepen scientific knowledge about marine biodiversity.
As hinted above, both the Catalan and Portuguese BioMARathons will take place between the 2nd of May and the 15th of October, supported by several partner entities that will help with the overall organisation of field trips and local activities.
