Citizen science with ANERIS in Genoa, Italy

21 Jun 2024

On 14 June 2024 another citizen science event related to the ANERIS project was held in Genoa, Italy. The conference was organised by MedCities, an association of Mediterranean coastal cities established in Barcelona and committed to promoting sustainable urban development in the region.

During the session, participants heard presentations by representatives of the Genoa Municipality, the Spanish National Research Council and Geoscape, an innovative consulting services company. Berta Companys, coordination expert of ANERIS, presented the project and shared insights on how ANERIS supports the Catalan coasts and works towards encouraging citizens to contribute to wildlife preservation and reducing the gap of knowledge between cities and their seas.

The discussion included both recommendations and strategies, outlining the steps needed to preserve Mediterranean seas. This event is part of the bigger initiative, launched by MedCities, aimed at increasing awareness of environmental protection and biodiversity restoration.
