Over the course of two days (26-27 November), ANERIS partners convened in Seville for the 2024 Annual Meeting, hosted by LifeWatch ERIC. The event showcased significant progress, fostered collaboration, and charted the way forward in advancing marine biodiversity monitoring technologies.
Day 1 began with a project overview from the coordinator Jaume Piera, highlighting key achievements and the project’s aim for a long-term impact. Partners also presented updates on the 11 monitoring and life-sensing technologies, setting the stage for collaborative discussions. The afternoon featured co-design sessions where teams defined Operational Marine Biology (OMB) products for the project's four case studies and also worked on refining the draft infographics, combining input from across the consortium.
On Day 2, discussions shifted to cross-cutting topics such as infrastructure, training, communication, and exploitation. Later on, work groups continued their efforts from Day 1, focusing on roadmap development for OMB products. Each team presented their refined timelines, providing a clear vision for the next steps. The day concluded with work table sessions, where critical challenges were addressed, and consortium-wide priorities were established.
Project Coordinator Jaume Piera closed the meeting by thanking partners and summarizing key outcomes. The event reinforced collaboration and set a clear path for ANERIS’s next steps.
The meeting strengthened collaboration among partners and provided a clear direction for the coming years. Stay tuned for more updates as ANERIS continues to work towards innovations in marine biodiversity monitoring.
