Citizen Science Activity on Intertidal Biodiversity (Portugal)

28 Aug 2023

Last Sunday (20.08.23), the BIOPOLIS team carried out a citizen science activity alongside the Vila do Conde Center for Science Communication. A group of 20 participants of all ages ventured to the rocky intertidal coasts of North Portugal to document the environmental stress conditions experienced by the diverse array of  intertidal organisms and to conduct biodiversity surveys.

Biodiversity guides (like the one below) were used, and records were kept using the MINKA application to ensure reliable data collection. The activity is a follow-up to the one carried out by BIOPOLIS in July, when biodiversity data was also collected.
